Maureen Tabuchi 

Throughout her executive career, Maureen has founded several legal services companies including WillsandEstates.Lawyer, the Legal Assistant Institute, and Tabuchi Law Professional Corporation. Through her firm’s “Virtual In-House Lawyer” program, she has assisted numerous startups with incorporation, agreements, tax planning, and numerous additional topics associated with new business launch and development. Prior to her entrepreneurial endeavors, Maureen was a Tax Specialist in M&A with Ernst & Young.

A highly sought-after and respected Thought Leader in her field, Maureen is an international best-selling author with publications including Divorce 2.0 and a contribution to Empowering Women to Succeed: Tough Times Don’t Last But Tough Women Do. She is an accomplished Continuing Education Instructor with courses including RECO and FSPC Credit Courses: The Taxation of Real Estate, Intensive Wills and Estate Planning Law Course, and courses for the Oakville, Milton, and District Real Estate Board and the Law Society of Upper Canada. In addition, she is a keynote speaker for estate and tax planning.

Maureen holds a BA, with honours, in Economics and Philosophy from Western University, an LLB with concentrations in Tax and Estate Planning from the University of Victoria, and a Masters in Taxation from the University of Waterloo.

Maureen is co-authoring Pivotal’s next training program, the SLP™ Seniors Legal Professional designation program.

Maureen will be discussing Best Practises When Working With Seniors, from a Lawyer’s Perspective, and answering as many of your questions as time allows.

Mark is president of the Canadian Institute of Certified Executor Advisors, a member of Advocis (The Financial Advisors Association of Canada), the Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting (CALU) and the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP).

He has given hundreds of seminars across Canada, to the public, professional groups, Canadian businesses, industry symposia, and aboard continuing education cruise ships around the world.  He has been speaking about the important role of executors and on estate tax strategies for more than 25 years.

Raeann Ridout, M.A.

Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario

Raeann Rideout, has for the past 16 years been actively engaged with community stakeholders and service providers, as the Central East, Regional Consultant.

The scope of Raeann’s current engagement in building collaborative partnerships, whether locally or nationally, provides a forum to apply over 23 years of experience, working in the field of elder abuse. EAPO is mandated to implement the Ontario Strategy to Combat EA, and as such forging effective and sustainable partnerships is key to the success of the strategy.

She is sought after for her comprehensive training skills, presenting to front-line service providers across all sectors, delivering public education sessions for older adults and facilitating collaborative initiatives between community organizations to effectively build capacity for response and interventions where older adults are at-risk or experiencing abuse.

Raeann is currently the instructor for the Foundations of Elder and Prevention Course at Trent University and has co-authored/published various research articles on the complexities of elder abuse.

For over 8 years, Raeann served as Co-chair of the Canadian Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (CNPEA) and Director of that Board. Previous year’s work included Consulting with the Manitoba Seniors’ Directorate as well as working as Counselor, for the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba.

Raeann will be providing a comprehensive overview of types of abuse, recognizing warning signs, specifically as they pertain to financial exploitation, highlights of laws/legislation on reporting and where to report (learning to recognize barriers in the process), as well as sharing relevant resources for supports and referrals available in Ontario. The presentation will also provide tips for avoiding real estate fraud and the impacts of fraudulent uses of Powers of Attorney. The presentation will close with a Q&A period, and Raeann will be available after the presentation.

Esther Goldstein

Esther Goldstein’s twelve years of work as a hospital social worker in Toronto led her to develop an interest in, and understanding of, the retirement home sector and to create the company Senioropolis Inc. In 1997, Esther created a resource directory on retirement homes that evolved to become the “Comprehensive Guide to Retirement Living®” (now in its 23rd edition). Esther’s goal to assist seniors in navigating care options was realized as the annual publication and affiliated website, www.senioropolis.com, expanded across Ontario, and became a full-time venture. Both the website and the book became relied upon resources by professionals who work with seniors, seniors themselves and their families

In 2019, in addition to continuing to grow www.senioropolis.com and the annual Guide, Esther entered into a partnership with Paul Cutajar of Pivotal Aging Innovations Inc. to further enhance her ability to provide information, counselling and support to seniors, their families and professionals who work with them. Their company,  Lifestyle 55+ Network Inc. is the parent company of www.seniorcareaccess.com which houses Canada’s largest unbiased senior housing database via professional membership, Consulting program on transitioning lifestyles and a professional resource directory.

She is a seasoned lecturer, sharing her knowledge with professionals, seniors and their families, through workshops and lectures at various venues on ‘Senior Living Options’ and related topics; a former educator at U of T School of Continuing Studies and; a summer lecturer at Seneca College School of Community Services.

Esther was a voluntary member of the Stakeholders Advisory Council of Ontario’s Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority beginning in 2013. At the end of 2016, Esther was appointed Chair of the Council, a position she continued to hold through the end of 2019 when her maximum term was reached. Currently, Esther volunteers her time as a member of the Board of Directors of The International Breastfeeding Centre in Toronto.
