It all started in 2010. I Had A Dream!
Yes, that may well be a cliche, but that dream was to host an annual conference for REALTORS®, and folks from other professions, who work with seniors and their families. At the time, I had just begun teaching the Accredited Senior Agent™ program (ASA™) to REALTORS® who wanted to learn the nuances of working that niche market. Over the next 6 years, I taught the course to some 3,500 people, never losing sight of my dream. Even as I retired from teaching, the dream stayed alive.
Fast-forward to April 2018, and I called up the Pivotal Aging Innovations, Inc. offices (they took on the ASA™ Program January 2017) and announced that I was putting on a conference and the first one would be in Mississauga in January 2019. I had decided that the conference would be titled ‘Finding Gold in the Silver market’, as a way of illustrating that there is a lot of gold to be made when you work the silver (-haired) market in the right way.
We decided that the target market for the conference would be any profession that works with seniors and their families, and our speaker lineup reflected that. Our keynote speaker was David Solie, and expert in intergenerational communication and understanding the changes we go through as we age. David came to us via streaming from his office in Los Angeles. We also had presentations from an excellent REALTOR® from Surrey, BC, Corina Stainsby, Local legal expert Maureen Tabuchi, Esther Goldstein, talking about SeniorCare Access.com, and Paul Cutajar from Pivotal talked about all the different ways Pivotal can help professionals with their clients. The event was a huge success, with attendees coming in from both sides of the country, and we quickly booked the dates for the 2020 event. You can read about that by choosing the menu item at the top of this page.
So, in a nutshell, if you are in, or want to get started in, a profession that has you working with seniors and their families, you need to attend the next Finding Gold in the Silver market Conference.
